| Sun Hill Infant School | |
| Sun Hill Infant School can be found on the outskirts of Alresford, a small Market Town in Hampshire. The school was built in 1968 and shares the same site as the Junior School. | ![]() |
| Pre-school provision is excellent in Alresford; therefore nearly all children attend a nursery or playgroup before coming to school. | |
| The relationship between the infant and junior school is excellent. The two Head teachers meet together on a regular basis and all staff are committed to ensuring that transfer between the schools is as smooth as possible. Children from Year 6 share books that they have written with our youngest pupils and children from Year 5 work with our Year 2 children on various projects throughout the year. | |
| Our online Prospectus contains full details about our school and our recent Ofsted Inspection Report can be viewed by clicking HERE. | The School Profile now takes the place of the Annual Report to parents and eventually all school profiles will be lodged on a national web site. Please do take a look at our 2005/2006 School Profile. |

| Golden Jubilee Sun Dial |
| Sun Hill Infant School celebrated the Queen's Golden Jubilee by erecting an exciting 8ft tall interactive sundial.
The sundial was designed by Charlie Carter, a well-known local sculptor and will be a permanent reminder for the town of this historic occasion. |
| The Sculpture is an interactive 8-foot high wooden Sun Dial surrounded by 12 seats placed on the hour points. It is placed within a maze and garden.
Our children where involved in the design and making of the tiles in the maze area.
The teaching staff and children of the school where also involved in the research and presentation of 'sun' mythology, investigating inspiration from the past - historians, artists, storytellers, and dramatists. It is anticipated that the children of the school will be involved for many years in the use of and understanding behind the Sun Dial. It will also be available for use by the inhabitants of Alresford at certain times. |

| Transfer To The Juniors | ||
| In the September following their seventh birthday, the children transfer to
Sun Hill Junior School.
There are close links with the Junior School and to prepare the children for this transfer and to make it as smooth as possible for them, the following activities take place during the term prior to transfer:
| ||
| ^Top of page^ | ||
| Pre-School | ||
| Before your child joins the school you are invited to attend our pre-school sessions.
The group meets for one afternoon a week in the hall from 2.15 p.m. - 3.15 p.m. during the summer term. It is an opportunity for you and your child to work together, doing the type of activities, which your child will experience when he/she starts school, to become familiar with the school surroundings and to meet the staff that work in the reception classes. Each child will attend three sessions.
A library also operates during the pre-school sessions. This enables the children to choose a book to take home and gets them accustomed to using their folder or book bag, which can be purchased from the school. Parents are invited to make an appointment to talk about their child with the Head Teacher, without the child present. All the information is then passed on to the child's teacher.

In addition to this, we are of course very pleased to have the opportunity to show prospective parents around our lovely school at any time of the year! Just contact the school office to make an appointment.
